Every 15 Minutes

Every 15 Minutes

The Sheriff of Morgan County asked that students in the Multimedia program to help him to document and commemorate the 2009 Every 15 Minutes program. The program is a simulation of a car accident that was caused by drunk driving and/or texting and driving. This video would be used as a keepsake for those who participated, as well as training for future events.

Instructor Jessica Edington, and students Rebecca, Amanda, and Karen spent the entire day filming the behind-the-scenes and the actual event. They had to coordinate their efforts in a very fast-paced, multi-event situation. While filming the wreck, they had to also film the driver being interviewed by police, the passengers being rescued, the coroner dealing with the “dead”, and the parents being notified. Afterward, the filming team split up to go to several area hospitals to film the medical responses as well as informing the families. The day ended at the mortuary where all participants could view the final consequences of driving distracted or while under the influence.

The final film was edited in its entirety by Rebecca Brasby who now owns her own freelance media business, RebeccaBrasby.com
